Lumpia Queen has been featured in Korina Sanchez’s show(Rated K) last night. As usual, it caught my attention and I was inspired again by this simple lady who started with a P2,000 capital in making and selling “lumpiang shanghai” and made it a million-pesos business after. How she was able to do that?
Life story of the Lumpia Queen
Carina Gonato came from a poor family in Cebu. Youngest among the three siblings and grew without knowing her real father. When she’s 12 years old, she worked as maid to support her high school. Lumpia queen was really determined and eager to finished studies. But life seems not to be on her side at the start. There were so many problems. Up and downs. After finishing high school, she married the guy she love thinking that can help her escape the “reality“.
But another test came again when they lose their first baby after a year. Not only that, after losing their first baby, her husband started to feel weak and got sick. Having those problems with no money and resources that time, she wanted to give up in life. Losing your first child, husband got sick and debt left and right were their major setbacks in life. But the lumpia queen “didn’t throw the towel” to life and decided to fight and move on.
The humble start of Lumpia Business
As shared on the show, Carina started selling lumpia from a friend supplier. But to earn more she decided to borrow P2,000 to start her own lumpia business. From that capital, she can earn P300 that can help her save their day.
She continue making and selling lumpia from that day and fast forward today, she has her own lumpia factory in their place. That’s why she was called the “Lumpia Queen“.
From P2,000 capital she now earns more than P200,000 a day. Yes, that is only within the day! Not only that, their family now lives in a beautiful house, their children going to reputable school and they are living the fruits of their hardwok.
Additionally, they are helping other families too by providing livelihood to her employees. She never forget her humble beginning.

This is the story of the lumpia queen of the Philippines. I was moved and inspired, I hope you do the same.
What’s in it for us?
Another Filipina proved us that everything is possible. It doesn’t matter who and what you are or where you came from. It doesn’t matter how much you have. All it takes is the courage and determination to work hard towards your dream. All it takes is the “guts” and the willingness to do everything to get what you want. Life is hard but when you persists, you win.
I hope this has been another inspirational monday for you. Have a great weekend ahead. Cheers!
It’s very nice to hear success stories like this.
But people must understand, it’s not all about the figures or how big your initial capital is. You start with P1 or P1M / $1 or $1k, it doesn’t really matter. It’s all about your discipline and how you manage the business itself.
