Losing your job is one of the scariest things in life – at least that’s what we know in general. Because that’s how we were raised by our parents and our society.
The typical scenario is to study hard, get good grades so you can find good jobs at good company with good benefits and good salary. From an ordinary point of view, that is life. A successful life.
I lose my job last month. We were laid off as part of the company’s “new strategy” which is another term for saving and making more money. That gives me the opportunity to decide to take a different path. Not the ordinary. You can read my last day at the corporate world here.
On the other hand, there are extra-ordinary people who walked a different path in life. Those who managed to jump out of ordinary and get out of their comfort zone.
Those who want to challenge their selves, those who want to do what they want and follow their passion, those who want change, those who get out of the “normal life” and those who seek freedom.
Have you read any of the success stories of some individuals who dropped out from college but were able to built multi-million dollar company? How about those who quit their job and started their own company?
Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg and many others have inspired us. There are many.
On this blog, I shared the story of Lumpia Queen and the couple who made millions in their simple Ice candy business.
Or the family who’s making million of dollars by just recording and uploading videos on Youtube with their children playing and unboxing toys. These are just few and we knew that there are many Pinoys who did this.
These are just the two sides of life and stories like these are worth to read and worth to share.
Whatever situation you’re in, the important thing to remember is that you’re being true to yourself. Check deep down in your inner core what are the things you want in life. What are your goals? What is your WHY?
What is the life you want 10, 20 or 30 years from now? If you’re current situation doesn’t correspond to your answers, maybe you need to start thinking and planning about change.
Change is hard. Getting out of our comfort is hard. In fact, life itself is hard. But that’s how it is.
It’s either we take chances or we die regretting we should’ve done what we want.
We only have one life and we only have one chance of living a fulfilling life. As what Pat Flynn says, “I’d rather have a life of oh wells than a life full of what ifs“.
While you have time and chances, do your best to prepare for what’s ahead. Prepare for tomorrow, for your future.
Work on your goals. Your dreams. Build the life you want.
No matter how slow or small, as long as you taking action, you’re getting one step closer ahead.
I hope this has been inspiring. Cheers!
